How far we’ve come and what’s on the horizon
In the first of our new Meet the Team series, we talk to co-founder and Managing Director Liz Johnson about TAP’s journey since launch and her plans for its future.
It’s hard to believe that this time last year TAP was just an idea in mine and Steve’s heads - so much has happened over the past twelve months, it’s incredible! We’re now six months into TAP’s official trading and our team is expanding rapidly, as well as our candidate pool and contracts. It’s fantastic to witness TAP already making a mark in the recruitment industry and to see how naturally our consultants are taking to their jobs.
Since our launch TAP has captured national attention and this media focus is testament to the desperate need for action when it comes to disability employment. Part of our aim in launching the business was to start these crucial conversations and change the narrative around disability, so I’m truly proud of the role we’ve been playing here. While we can’t afford to rest on our laurels it’s great to see more corporates and businesses starting to recognise the scale and scope of the problem.
However, the conversations we've been having since launch have highlighted a key issue in terms of disability employment. While companies recognise the need for change, often they didn’t know what to do to make it happen in a sustainable, lasting way. Society’s overall attitude towards disability and lack of knowledge means that even with the best intentions, many businesses don’t know how to start down the road towards authentic inclusivity. And when working for real, long lasting change it’s vital that you speak to those who truly know what needs to be done.
It seemed a natural progression then to incorporate this side of things into the TAP model moving forward and help businesses become more accessible. I’m excited about developing the consultancy arm of TAP and having our team use their insights and experiences to guide companies as they shape their policies and make their workplaces more diverse and accessible. If you’d like to find out more about TAP’s expertise in this area, then please get in touch. We’d love to chat about how you can play your part in the new workforce revolution!
